Manitoba Agricultural Museum - Austin - 637-2354 www.ag-museum.mb.ca
Since the Museums beginnings in the early 1950s, the Manitoba Agricultural Museum has preserved the agricultural artifacts and the history of Manitoba pioneers. The Museum possesses the largest collection of operating vintage farm machinery in Canada plus a complete pioneer village of 25 buildings. The Museum's collection includes steam engines, gas tractors including many of the large "Prairie" style tractors, plows, binders, threshing machines, horse drawn equipment, vehicles, tools, household items and other artifacts from the pioneer era. The Museum's building collection ranges from a original 1905 grain elevator to log cabins. The Museum's collection includes a number of rare artifacts not found elsewhere. Take a glimpse into the future by reliving the past.
The Museum operates demonstration days in July "The Threshermen's Reunion and Stampede". Steam engines, gas tractors and horse drawn equipment can actually be seen and heard doing the jobs of plowing and threshing that this equipment was designed for.
The Museum operates year round, possesses a modern campground with showers and is located in central Manitoba, just off of Highway 1. The Museum is located 3 KMs south of the junction of Highways 1 & 34. For more information on the Museum, please see the Museum's freshly renovated website at www.ag-museum.mb.ca
