Wolves and Waterfalls
When in Thompson, you are guaranteed to see some wolves. Most of them won’t even flinch if you pet them! But that’s because they are beautifully painted statues located along the 2km Spirit Way, a walking and biking path that highlights the city’s heritage, culture, industry and scenery. You won’t be able to miss the world's largest mural of a Robert Bateman wolf painting at 10-storeys high. Head to the Thompson Zoo to see some real live wolves, often heard howling at night, or you might even be lucky enough to spot a wolf who has wandered into town.
Venture to Kwasitchewan and Pisew Falls, a Manitoba Star Attraction, and Manitoba's highest and second highest waterfalls at 14.2m and 13m respectively. A 22km hiking trail connects these two landmarks, and an observation platform and suspension bridge offer great views over the frothy Grass River. Backcountry campsites are available for those looking to further explore the area.
