Bid to own a guitar signed by the Winnipeg Jets
By Travel Manitoba | December 13 2011 (0 Comments)

Winnipeg, Manitoba, December 12, 2011 – Do the Winnipeg Jets rock your world? Rock on with a custom electric guitar signed by the team’s players.

Made of solid wood and fully playable, the guitar would make a great gift for a hockey fan, musician or collector – all while supporting a great cause.

Proceeds from the guitar auction will support the United Way of Winnipeg as part of Travel Manitoba’s United Way workplace campaign.

The guitar was built by École Selkirk Junior High students in the BOSS (Building on Student Success) Guitar Works program, in collaboration with Travel Manitoba and the Winnipeg Jets. It features the autographs of the inaugural team and is affixed with the full-colour, trademarked Jets logo.

Since the fall of 2010, BOSS student and staff volunteers have helped to raise more than $52,450 for several charities and organizations by building custom guitars for auction. Past BOSS guitars have been signed by musicians from Randy Bachman, Hedley, and The Beach Boys to other celebrities and public figures including Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, U.S. President Bill Clinton and others.

The bidding begins December 15 on the online auction site eBay, and ends on Monday, December 19. For details, see www.travelmanitoba.com/jetsguitarauction.com

Proceeds from the auction will go to United Way to help support the goal of building a stronger, safer, healthier Winnipeg.
