10 Things to Do in Manitoba: December 9 to 15

There are many ways to warm up during a wintery season here in Manitoba. Hiking amongst snowy pines in the forest, moving to the beat whilst singing and dancing at karaoke night, crafting a homemade Manitoba-inspired beverage at home, seeing the smile on a local maker's face after purchasing one of their products, or cozying up next to a bonfire. Here are 10 things to do this week in Manitoba!

Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area

1. Go for a Winter Wonderland Walk

For the outdoor enthusiast, beauty is found a few kilometres south of the City of Brandon in the Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area. The extensive trail system offers easy, intermediate and difficult levels of terrain. Make yourself a hot chocolate to go and enjoy a serene winter walk through the hills. Spend an hour or spend the morning! If you're feeling extra ambitious, plan ahead of time and bring a fat bike or pair of snowshoes for a quintessential winter workout.

2. Try Out Karaoke

5. Embrace the Outdoors

Explore the snowy trails of Oak Hammock Marsh. Spot the different wildlife and their tracks in the snow. Go to the trails solo or with friends and family and check out the different available paths. Explore the frozen Marsh and look for animal tracks in the snow or catch a glimpse of a snowy owl. Follow their self-guided trail or explore the vast expanse of frozen wetland.

The building is closed for renovations but roam the outdoor trails!

December 10 • 10am to 5pm

On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To celebrate this milestone, on this day admission to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is free for everyone! Participate in activities throughout the galleries, take a tour, or attend a citizenship ceremony and congratulate Canada’s newest citizens.
