Here are just a few of the restaurants, eateries and food experiences you need to have on your next foodie adventure to the cultural oasis of Winnipeg…

Swanky

If you’re the type who likes to dress to the nines for dinner, we have more than enough swanky establishments to choose from. Harth Mozza & Wine Bar is a brand new addition to the neighbourhood south St. Vital, offering a truly stunning interior (which just sets the mood for good food) and homemade Italian fare. Don’t step foot inside without trying the bruschetta! Located within Inn at the Forks, Smith‘s sleek and Canadiana-inspired interior lends well to any meal of the day, especially given its location at The Forks, one of Winnipeg’s loveliest public spaces. For views of the historic Red River, settle into re-purposed industrial building of Cibo Waterfront Cafe for a meal of Mediterranean influence.

Cool

For drinks over tapas, Winnipeg has a burgeoning ‘small plates’ food scene, which happens to be fantastic if you have a hard time deciding what to order off a menu. If you find yourself once again in the Exchange District, pop into the trendy Deer + Almond to try unique dishes and drinks, or head to Cordova for a truly Spanish-inspired menu. In the Corydon/Osborne village area, try Maque for an intimate setting and Segovia to get a taste of one of the most popular restaurants in Winnipeg, period.

And for something truly cool, visit the city in the heart of our winter season for a dining experience like no other. RAW:almond is a pop-up dining experience on the frozen ice of the Red River that brings world class chefs together to create one-of-a-kind dishes. Tickets tend to sell out, so keep an eye on the website if you’re planning on visiting the city to try RAW:almond.

Entertaining

Combine two of the greatest things in life, food and music, at Celebrations Dinner Theatre. Located in Canad Inns Destination Centre Fort Garry, Celebrations serves up original, interactive three-act musical comedies that pair perfectly with a scrumptious four-course meal. Can’t get enough good tunes with your entree? Hermanos Restaurant & Wine Bar is a South American steakhouse, known for its delicious cuts, empanadas and live music. There are two locations, one in the historic Exchange District and the other on South Osborne. Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse is another entertaining dinner spot, with 40 years under its belt of making delicious food (with comedy-cooking routines) on the teppan grill, right before its patron’s eyes.

Late night

After a day of exploring and eating your way through the city, it’s time to make a choice: retire to your hotel room, or hit the town for a night out. We highly recommend the latter! Choose between swanky lounges like the Prairie 360 Whiskey Lounge (which has an amazing view of the city) and the Fort Garry Hotel Palm Lounge, or grab a drink at one of the city’s hippest spots, like The Roost on Corydon or Forth in the Exchange District. Dancing can be found at the Kings Head Pub, OV Club, and The Good Will – just to name a few!
