This town was the home of Nellie McClung, temperance leader, MLA and author who, in 1916, led Manitoba women to become the first in Canada to win the right to vote. The community boasts four municipal heritage sites: Manitou Opera House, Cenotaph, St. Andrew's United Church and St. John the Baptist Anglican Church.
