Ready to Explore? Flin Flon's New Trail Will Take You There!

Posted August 30, 2024

We’ve launched a new digital pass to encourage visitors and residents to explore northern Manitoba.

Just in time for the long weekend, we at Travel Manitoba, in partnership with the City of Flin Flon, are excited to launch a brand new Manitoba Experience Pass called the Explore Flin Flon Trail.

With Manitoba Experience Passes, we’re encouraging visitors and residents to discover the province in fresh and exciting ways. These digital passports offer a range of opportunities—some bundle the best attractions, tickets and experiences at discounted rates, while others are free check-in challenges that reward your adventures with special recognition pins and certificates.

These innovative products enable us to showcase our partners in new ways, spark interest in their businesses and strengthen Manitoba’s tourism industry with engaging offerings.

As David Wolodarsky, our Director of Marketing at Travel Manitoba, puts it, “By using innovative digital tools and fostering strong partnerships, we’re not only enhancing the visitor experience but also driving meaningful engagement with local businesses and attractions.”
“By using innovative digital tools and fostering strong partnerships, we're not only enhancing the visitor experience but also driving meaningful engagement with local businesses and attractions,” said David Wolodarsky, Director, Marketing for Travel Manitoba.

When the City of Flin Flon approached us with the idea of developing a pass, we immediately saw the potential to highlight the region’s diverse natural landscapes, historical sites, and recreational activities. This initiative aligns perfectly with their new wayfinding and regional tourism strategy.

“The Explore Flin Flon Trail will serve as a gateway for visitors and Manitobans to discover the hidden gems and must-see attractions that make our area truly special,” says Emily Roberts-Young, Regional Economic Development Officer for the City of Flin Flon. “By working with Travel Manitoba, we’ve been able to bring our vision for a mobile pass to life.”

Roberts-Young and Brooke White, Regional Tourism Officer, worked diligently to select the Points of Interest (POIs) for the trail. They provided detailed descriptions, photos and other elements to make the mobile pass an immersive experience.

As you check in at the POIs along the trail, you’ll earn points that can be redeemed for a special digital certificate. If you visit all 21 locations, you’ll receive a set of Flin Flon-themed stickers as a reward for your adventure.

“Partnering with the City of Flin Flon has been a truly collaborative effort, reflecting our shared vision for promoting the region’s unique attractions,” Wolodarsky says. “This pass is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together to showcase the best of what Manitoba has to offer.”

This new Manitoba Experience Pass is designed to inspire you—whether you’re a resident or a visitor—to explore the unique charm of Flin Flon in a way that’s both engaging and rewarding.

The Explore Flin Flon Trail represents a significant step forward in how we promote regional tourism, demonstrating the power of collaborative marketing and paving the way for similar strategies to invigorate other regions across Manitoba.
