Welcome to the International Peace Garden, a serene oasis where nature and harmony converge. Established in 1932 on the U.S.-Canada border, our 2,400-acre sanctuary stands as a beacon of peace and friendship.
Step into the heart of tranquility as you explore our meticulously curated Formal Gardens. Here, over 100,000 vibrant flowers bloom in a mesmerizing array of colors, creating a visual symphony that delights the senses. Be sure to pause and admire the Sunken Garden, a tranquil oasis nestled within the Garden's expanse.
Venture further into the Garden and discover the crown jewel of our sanctuary: the newly expanded Conservatory. A marvel of architectural splendor and botanical diversity, the Conservatory invites you on a journey through one of the world's most diverse collections of cacti and succulents. Gifted to the Peace Garden in 2009 by Don Vitko, the collection boasts over 4,000 specimens, one of the world's most diverse collections of cacti and succulents, each a testament to nature's ingenuity and resilience.
As you wander through the Conservatory you'll be transported to arid landscapes adorned with vibrant blooms and intricate patterns. Towering saguaros from the Sonoran Desert stand tall alongside delicate succulents, creating a tapestry of colors and textures that mesmerizes the senses. From the whimsical shapes of lithops to the majestic beauty of agaves, the Conservatory is a treasure trove of botanical wonders waiting to be discovered.
For our youngest visitors, the International Peace Garden offers a whimsical escape in the form of our Children's Nature Play Area. Here, little adventurers can let their imaginations run wild as they climb, crawl, and explore the wonders of nature firsthand. Distinct animal habitat play zones nestled into an existing forest grove provide endless opportunities for fun and imaginative play. From climbing nets in the turtle area to bridges, dams, and lodges in the beaver zone, each play zone offers a unique learning experience that fosters a deep connection with the natural world.
After a morning of exploration, guests can unwind at the Garden Cafe, where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the scent of blooming flowers. For the active at heart, the changing of seasons and scenery in the Garden allows for a variety of recreational activities throughout the year. From biking and hiking to kayaking and camping in the summer, to cross-country skiing and cabin rentals in the winter, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Before bidding farewell, be sure to visit the Garden's Gift Shop, where souvenirs and mementos await to commemorate your journey through the International Peace Garden. From handcrafted jewelry inspired by nature's beauty to artisanal goods crafted by local artisans, each item tells a story and carries the spirit of the Garden within its folds. Additionally, the Garden is planning to unveil a craft beer developed by Laughing Sun Brewing in Bismarck, North Dakota. Visitors will be able to enjoy this special drink through the Cafe and during open mics being planned for Saturday evenings.
As day turns to dusk and the last rays of sunlight dance across the horizon, the International Peace Garden remains a beacon of hope for peace in a world often fraught with chaos and uncertainty. Here, amidst the lush greenery and fragrant blooms, visitors find solace and inspiration, forging connections that transcend borders and unite hearts in a shared appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
So come, embark on a journey of discovery and renewal at the International Peace Garden, where every moment is a testament to the power of harmony and the enduring spirit of peace. The International Peace Garden is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for peace.
